Abstract

Skin Advice in any Device 24/7.

With a stressful every day life, there is less time to handle unexpected health conditions. Looking for quick answers, 80% of all patients search for their medical symptoms on the internet prior to seeing a doctor. It is estimated that 15% to 20% of all general physician (GP) visits are skin related. Due to their specialized training a dermatologist, when compared to a GP, can diagnose skin conditions more accurately. iDoc24 is a service where anyone can show their skin condition anonymously to a dermatologist, through any internet connected device, and receive medical information within 24 hours. The medical information includes a possible diagnosis, relevant medical terms, treatment possibilities and/or if a doctor should be seen in person, all in the user's native language. After over 1000 cases, the results show: 70% of users are given self treatment advice, 30% are advised to see a doctor for further tests and examination (encouraging patients ,not to delay a doctor's visit); 30% of cases are on intimate problems, 25% on pigmented lesions (skin cancer worries) and the rest are on general skin problems (rashes, etc). There is a >99% user satisfaction rate.

The service is provided in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Swedish with respective language speaking dermatologists. Users pay per consultation directly via iTunes (iOS), telephone bill (basic mobile phone), or by credit card (web).
